Activity Overview

Visit the largest and possibly most beautiful island in San Francisco Bay. Just outside the reach of urban life, Angel Island boasts stunning views of the bay, while providing visitors with the opportunity to enjoy nature and outdoor recreation.

Things to See & Do

Enjoy a tram tour of the island. The Angel Island Company offers twice daily educational tours of the island throughout the summer months.

Visit the United States Immigration Station Museum. The structure was home to the US Immigration Station from 1910 to 1940, and processed hundreds of thousands of Pacific Coast Immigrants throughout its operation.

Tour the island by Segway! The Angel Island Company offers twice daily tours of the island by Segway. Participants must be at least 16 years of age and produce a signed waiver.

Bring your own or rent bikes and ride throughout the island for spectacular views. A paved bike route surrounds the perimeter of the island.

Go for a hike and picnic along the hiking trails. Several camping areas and picnic spaces are available on a seasonal basis.

Angel Island Insider Tips

  • Check out the updated schedules for ferries departing from either San Francisco or Tiburon.
  • The Angel Island Company offers many of the above listed tours. Visit their website for more details and information on pricing and schedules.
  • The park is accessible by ferry or private boat. Ferry schedules are extremely limited during the winter months.
  • Groupons are accepted, however cannot be used to make reservations.
  • Child seats and tandem bicycles are not available to rent on the island. Families with young children should make sure to bring their own bicycles and gear.
  • Consider using alternate parking if riding the ferry. Designated ferry parking is limited and can become pricey. Local parking lots which require some walking to and from the boat are available for under $10. Scope out the area before your scheduled trip to save some money.
