Free Lesson Plans Library

While looking for a resource that would allow me to create my own crossword puzzles, I stumbled across this site hosted by Discovery Education. The logo looks similar to the Discovery Channel but I'm not sure they're related. Well, they do offer a free puzzle maker, but not in printable form. For that I would have to purchase a CD. However, what they also offer is a huge library of free printable lesson plans in virtually every topic for every grade level. I would suggest you use the option where you select a subject, then view by grade. At that point you are given a list of topics. For example, if you're interested in a lesson plan for ancient history for grades 6 - 8, you can choose from multiple lessons, such as Ancient Artifacts, Archaeology, Female Pharoahs, Making Mummies and so on. I looked at Making Mummies. Each lesson plan lists the objectives, materials, discussion questions, vocabulary and so on. There are links to various articles and images. I couldn't get the Tollund Man link to work but the Lindow Man links were fine. The plan provides questions for you to ask your students once they have visited the links. All of the plans I looked at were written by educators and adhered to national standards.
