Activity Overview

The Liberty Ride takes visitors on a 90 minute trolley tour of many historically important sites in the Lexington area. This tour will be of interest to anyone who likes to learn about Revolutionary War era America and also for anyone who has an interest in 19th Century American literature. Sites relate to famous figures such as George Washington, Paul Revere, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Louisa May Alcott and Ralph Waldo Emerson. You are sure to finish this entertaining tour more educated then when you started it!

Things to Do

  • Many of Lexington's best and most interesting attractions, especially if you are into history, are included along the tour's route. The Minute Man National Park is home to a visitor center with exhibits on the Revolutionary War.
  • The Monroe Tavern once served as the British military's headquarters and also as a field hospital. The Hancock-Clarke House was the destination of Paul Revere on his famous midnight ride.
  • Those with an interest in literature will love the chance to visit the Old Manse, once home to Ralph Waldo Emerson, and the Wayside where the Alcotts and Nathaniel Hawthorne once lived.

Liberty Ride Insider Tips

  • Children under the age of five can go on the Liberty Ride for free. There is a discounted rate for seniors and military.
  • You can find free all day parking at the Lexington Center, the Minute Man National Historical Park or the National Heritage Museum.
