Activity Overview
Play to inspire creative imagination at Sandy Springs Playable Art Park located in the Abernathy Greenway Park, Georgia. In 2011, ArtSS (Art Sandy Springs) evaluated over 100 design submissions from artists all over the world to create a park that both functions as art installations and play structures. By 2012, the committee chose 6 designs and created scale models. The park offers amenities such as free parking on site, picnic areas and shelters, and public restrooms.
Things to Do
- Bring the kids to play early in the morning. Ride the swing at The Big Image and climb the Spider Walk, the Dragonfly, and Twist and Shout. Kids can climb and slide down at the Wonder Wall and It's You and Me, Kid installations too.
- Families come in with picnic bags so you can too! Pack munchies and drinks for you and your kids' morning or afternoon snacks.
- Visit other areas in Abernathy Greenway Park and drop by the Arts Center.
- The park is not just for kids. You can also bring your furry friend with you. Make sure your dog is on a leash though.

- Apply sunscreen. The Playable Art Park is located in an area without a lot of shade.
- Park is located parallel to a busy street. If you want to enjoy a quiet time while your kids play, pick a less busy time in the day.
