Activity Overview

Temple Square is a 10-acre religious complex owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the heart of Salt Lake City, Utah. The square's most prominent feature is the beautiful granite Salt Lake Temple, which was constructed in the late 1800s. However, it is also home to many other important buildings, including Salt Lake Tabernacle and Salt Lake Assembly Hall, as well two visitors' centers, the Church History Museum, the Family History Library, and the Seagull Monument. If you're interested in learning about the Mormon Church, then this is the place to visit.

Things to Do

  • If you are a member of the Mormon Church, you may be able to go inside of the beautiful Salt Lake Temple. However, it is not open to the general public, so most visitors can simply enjoy the views of the outside of the building.
  • Visit the Seagull Monument located in front of the Salt Lake Assembly Hall, which commemorates an event known as the "Miracle of the Gulls".
  • View the exhibits in the two visitors' centers, which detail the history of the Mormon Church.
  • Check out the Church History Museum, where you'll find covered wagons, log homes, and fascinating artwork in a wide variety of exhibitions.
