The Importance of Homeschooling Support Groups...
I used to homeschool my daughter. The first few months of home schooling, I was an island. I nearly lost my mind. It was then that I realized the importance of homeschooling support groups. If you are new to homeschooling, or you are a veteran who has been trying to do it all on your own, take the time to find some other local homeshooling families that you can connect with. It's well worth the time!
Not only are homeschooling support groups a great way to meet other parents (and kids!) who are homeschooling, they are also a wonderful way to share information, get tips, and possibly even find people who will teach your children the subjects that you aren't so good at. New homeschooling families can get a wealth of great information from those who have been doing it awhile.
Homeschooling support groups are pretty easy to find. You can start by using Google to find a support group that is near to you. If you live in a very rural area and feel alone, consider joining an online group so that you can get daily support. It's still important to find actual people that you can connect with, but even having virtual friends to connect with and share ideas and stories will go a long way towards making you feel connected again!
It's great for parents and kids - you get some adult contact and your kids get to make new friends!
