Cute and "oh-so-useful" Child Locator Device
I have a very active 3 year old. And recently, as we were leaving a crowded museum, he zigged while we zagged and he got lost for a few terrifying minutes.
Imagine an entire museum emptying at closing time, and your three-year-old is suddenly unaccounted for. Adreniline Rush as you look every which way.....where the heck is he......
The good thing is, we found him. He had zigged over to the gift shop one last time. The better thing is, that to avoid it ever happening again we found this very cool child locator device that he loves wearing and makes me feel just a little more in control if he gets out of my sight again.
It's basically a little plastic teddy bear (choice of pink or brown) that attaches to the top of your child's shoe or belt. Mom or Dad carries the transmitter piece, which sends a signal and makes a lound chirping sound audible for up to 150 feet.
Anyway everyone, including my son feels safer wearing it when we are in a large crowd. (He definitely didn't enjoy those few minutes of being lost either).
Another helpful idea, if you are heading to a crowded location, is to tape your cell# to the back of the child's shirt (I say on the back, because they inevitably will pull it off if you put in on the front). Oh, and NOT the child's name, just your cell#. Kind of an "If found, please call" sort of thing. We did this in Disney and it was great. Never had to use it. But it gave me more piece of mind.
Every little bit helps!
This is a great tip. I am traveling with my daughter alone to India soon, and am terrified of losing her at the airport.
I love this! I have personally never been a fan of the child leash, but with an very active little one who isn't afraid of strangers, this will be great!
I'm going to get one, I have a 2 year old and this will help me a lot....
We will be going on vacation this summer and this is a great way to keep track of my liitle one!! Thanks
