Easy Thankfulness Project
This is a bit of a no-brainer, but lots of parents are so busy and stressed out, even simple things get overlooked. Every November 1st we tape a piece of paper up somewhere in the kitchen, and every day each family member writes one thing we are thankful for. We do this the whole month, but don't really talk about it. We read each others, but don't make it a big deal. (Usually we have a column for the dog too and we all take turns figuring out what he's thankful for.) When Thanksgiving finally arrives, I "laminate" the page by covering it with clear contact paper (you could laminate it if you have the equipment), hole punch it and place it in a small binder with all the previous years' sheets. The most fun is to see how it changes through the years. When the kids are little, all my husband and I were thankful for was sleep, coffee, our pillow, etc. When someone is sick or passed away that year, we see that too.
