Villa & Hut homeware store located at 1105 Frankford Avenue in Philly is a must-stop if you want to go-green with your home decorating. Owners Jon and Tanya Spivak set up the 8,000 square-foot warehouse recently, which began in Australia in 1999 and has expanded to include locations throughout Europe and Southeast Asia. Their goal is to connect with skilled craftsmen, mostly from villages around the world, and work with them to ensure quality products and fair trade.Much of the items at Villa & Hut are made from recycled products and of natural fibers of banana leaf, bamboo, clay and stone. Furniture pieces such as teak drawers and buffets are exquisite. This is a truly unique place with its hand-crafted stone Buddhas, and rattan lamps and elegant mahogany bureaus. Everything sold in the store is hand-made and shipped in from various parts of the world including Indonesia, Africa and Thailand.
