How to Control After School Snacks
My kids are big enough that there's not always an adult home with them after school, and we always find out later that they took advantage of that fact when choosing their snacks. Since school begins soon, we just held a family meeting and came up with a list of parent and kid approved after school snacks. I typed up the list and posted it inside the cabinet door. Some examples are: one apple with peanut butter, one dessert cup of pretzels, one serving of raw broccoli with ranch dressing, etc. Now, it's my job to be sure the kitchen is properly stocked. Of course, this will only work with kids who obey even when no one is looking. Thank goodness, mine do-most of the time!
