Try my all-time favorite truffle recipe, Chocolate Caramel Peanut Truffles, by Sara Moulton. I have been making them as gifts for the past three years, and they are always appreciated. For a truffle recipe, they are fairly easy to make. The only tricky part is combining the caramel with the cream; stir constantly under moderate heat until the caramel dissolves completely, ideally with a silicone spatula, and be careful not to let it bubble over (which will also ruin your stove if you have a glass top). Make sure to use good chocolate, and then package them up in foil bon bon holders and candy boxes, which you can find at a craft or cooking shop.
