This article in CNNMoney.com says a person's willingness to apologize, whether or not they are completely at fault, is a perfect predictor of salary. But this could be misleading. Is it because it's easier to do something without asking permission and then apologize later, which is what a lot of heavy-hitters do? Read the article. It's interesting, and you might just get yourself a raise.
