Home to a stunning botanical garden, the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory is often referred to as the Belle Isle Conservatory by the locals. The Conservatory is an excellent place to enjoy fresh air while admiring a wide variety of flowers. An oasis of green in the middle of the city, the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory is the perfect choice for a family day out.
The conservatory is home to six sections: the welcome area, the Tropical House, the Palm House, the Cactus House, the Show House and the Fernery. Besides these, you can also see 20 more greenhouses at the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, used for caring for a large number of cacti, orchids, and other types of tropical plants.
Things to Do
- Have a look at the interior and exterior architecture of the building, as it is a true gem. Built in 1904, the Belle Isle Conservatory was designed by architect Albert Kahn.
- Do not miss the exotic palm trees and the plant life brought from the jungles of South Asia
- Volunteers are available to answer all the questions you may have about the plants.
