Activity Overview
Apex Community Park is a 160-acre public park located in the town of Apex, North Carolina, a suburb of Raleigh. This nature area is the perfect place to spend the weekend outdoors enjoying the fresh air and the beauty of North Carolina. It provides facilities for all kinds of sports, including baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, and basketball, as well as over 3 miles of trails for hiking, cycling, and rollerblading. The park also has a playground, picnic areas, a fishing dock, and a large lake which can be used for fishing, caneoing, kayaking, and other water sports.
Things to Do
- Take your little one to the playground! Designed for children between the ages of 2 and 12, it features a fun play structure and swings.
- Go for bike ride, walk your dog, or rollerblade along the 2-mile paved trail around the lake, or enjoy a family hike along the nature trail.
- Teach your child to fish! The park's lake is open for fishing each day between 6:30 a.m. and sunset.
- Practice your batting skills in the batting cages, or play a game of catch on one of the ball fields.
Apex Community Park Insider Tips
- Bring along some food and drinks and relax with a picnic lunch in the park. There are several picnic areas, including some that have grills you can use.
- If you plan to go fishing, make sure to pick up a Town of Apex Fishing Permit from the nearby Apex Community Center. You'll also need a permit if you plan to use a canoe, kayak, or paddle board on the lake.
- Make sure to bring along sunscreen and a hat if you're going out on the lake, and insect repellent if you plan to hike along the nature trail.
