Activity Overview
Take the entire family on an inspiring journey through the history of railway in Arizona by visiting the Arizona Railway Museum. Featuring an extensive collection of railroad rolling stock and artifacts, the museum is home to a variety of cars you can easily explore at your own pace. These include two items listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
When visiting the National Register of Historic Places, the kids get a hands-on experience and can explore the cars up close. The museum is is also home to one of the largest Union Pacific fleets located outside a train yard.
Things to Do
- This is an excellent place to take artistic photos, so bring your camera along.
- If you come with small children, do not miss the playground area where the little ones can have lots of fun.
- Visit both the inside part of the museum which is home to an artifacts exhibition and the outside area where you can see the actual trains.

- The museum is only open on weekends
- Do not miss the gift shop, where you can find a wide range of collectibles that include old-time engineer hats and train whistles
