Activity Overview
Atwater Park & Beach is a beautiful 5-acre park in the village of Shorewood, Wisconsin, which is just a few miles north of downtown Milwaukee. It is best known for its scenic beach along Lake Michigan. Other features include two popular playgrounds, a beautiful sculpture by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, and historical markers that are part of the Wisconsin Maritime Trails. It's a great place for families to play and relax in the sunshine and enjoy remarkable views of Lake Michigan.
Things to Do
- Relax and sunbathe on the beach or bring along a ball to play volleyball on the sand.
- Take your child to one of the two playgrounds, which feature all kinds of exciting equipment to swing, slide, and climb on.
- Get some exercise by walking up and down the long staircase that leads down to the shore.
- Check out the impressive sculpture by famous Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, who created the popular Crown Fountain in Chicago's Millennium Park.
