Activity Overview
Open to the public 24 hours a day Balboa Park is one of the jewels in San Diego' crown. Filled with cultural, historic and sporting attractions there is simply a mountain of activities one can take part in inside its bounds. A National Historic Landmark the park is cherished by locals as a green space with well-kept gardens where they can relax from city worries for a time.
Things to Do
- One of the highlights of the Park is the world famous San Diego Zoo. The Zoo is home to almost 4,000 animals and hundreds of species. Its exhibits include monkeys, pandas, polar bears, elephants and much more. They run various education programs and events which are ideal for families and children.
- Sporty people will find a lot to keep them active in the Park. At the Activity Center they will find badminton, table tennis, volleyball and other indoor sports. Golf players can make use of the park's golf complex while there are 24 hard tennis courts for tennis fans. Hikers and bikers will love the choice they have in exploring 65 miles of trails altogether.
- Many locations in the park are dedicated to the performing arts. There is ballet and dance, a youth symphony, the second largest outdoor organ in the world and even a puppet theater! Aside from this there are a great deal of art and history museums to enjoy.
