Activity Overview
Less than a half-hour's drive south from Burlington, VT will bring you to Waterbury, where the main attraction is the Ben and Jerry's Factory.
A 30-minute tour of this factory opens you up to the history of the company, including details about the organization's many charitable campaigns, and the methods and manufacturing process which yield one of the tastiest ice creams available.
During the tour, you'll be offered a sample of the famous ice cream, and, following the tour, you're encouraged to visit the full-service scoop shop where you can design your own ice cream sensation.
Things to Do
- Visit the Flavor Graveyard to see names and descriptions of former, retired Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavors.
- Pick up some Ben and Jerry's memorabilia in the gift shop. Items include hats, t-shirts, beach towels and flavored lip balms.
- Have a picnic and some fun on the playground outside.
Ben and Jerry's Factory Insider Tips
- The Factory is open daily except for major holidays and has extended hours from June through October.
- Those touring the factory will only be able to see employees on the manufacturing floor from Monday through Friday.
- Tickets for a factory tour are sold daily on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Cost for the tour is $4 per adult, $3 for seniors, and children 12 and under are free.
