Activity Overview
When the weather's nice and you feel like taking the little ones out of the house for some fresh air, why not head along to the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park? For nearly 20 years the park has been a permanent feature of downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The park was opened on the bicentennial of Tennessee's statehood on June 1, 1996, hence the name.
The park covers nearly 20 acres of land and can be found right in the center of Nashville, Tennessee, and is also right by the Farmers' Market, a great place to pick up fresh produce from the local area. In addition to the various places you can learn about the history of the local area and the state, there are also open spaces and various things to see and do in the park.
When the sun's beating down and you want a way to cool off, then you should definitely head along with your little ones to the Rivers of Tennessee Fountains in the park, which are many people's favorite parts of the park.
Things to Do
- Head along to the Tennessee Map Plaza, a giant map of the state which features the Rivers of Tennessee Fountains. Each fountain represents one of state's rivers.
- Have a walk around the beautiful open spaces that have been nestled right into the center of Nashville.
- Check out the ampitheater in the park.

- On busy days, consider going to the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park early in the morning in order to avoid the crowds.
- Don't leave your furry friends at home! Dogs are welcome in the park.
- Pick something fresh and local from the farmers' market and save money by having a picnic in the park!
