Activity Overview

The Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston is an award-winning museum that has exhibited artworks in the university's art district since the early 1970s. There are a variety of exhibitions throughout the year (usually between six and eight of them a year), allowing you and your family visit multiple times.

Entry to the museum is free so you needn't worry about the budget when taking the whole family!

Things to Do

  • See and appreciate some of Houston's best contemporary art without spending a single penny!
  • Ask the friendly and knowledgeable staff for more information on the art.
  • Check the museum's calendar for information on upcoming events and talks that older children may be interested in attending.

Blaffer Art Museum at the University of Houston Insider Tips

  • The museum abides by the schedule of the university and is therefore closed during the school's holiday periods. You can find the University of Houston's holiday schedule here.
  • Try to visit on a Saturday to make the most of free parking.
  • If visiting during the week, try to arrive with ample time before classes start (around 30 to 45 minutes) as the parking situation around the University of Houston campus is often problematic once the students are in class.
  • Arrange a tour before your visit by using the museum's website.
