Activity Overview
The Buehler Planetarium is situated on the A. Hugh Adams central campus of the Broward College. It offers a number of planetarium events that change regularly. Also available are sky presentations and telescope observing at their Observatory.
Things to Do
- Every month there is a once off special show which usually takes place on the third Thursday of the month. These include shows on man's trips to the moon, on the possibility of extra-terrestrial life and on the life cycle of stars.
- There is a weekend children's show every Saturday at 1.30 p.m. This teaches young children about what they can see in the night sky with a fun and easy to follow story-telling format.
- The Planetarium intermittently holds music shows. In the past this has included a setting of Pink Floyd's "The Wall", an 80's night and a family pop music night.
- Every Wednesday there is a Live Sky Tour. You can head back at different points of the year to learn about different parts of space as the Earth revolves and Fort Lauderdale sits under a different night time sky.
{Insert Activity Name} Insider Tips
- The Planetarium can be difficult to find once you get on Campus so if you are unsure ring ahead for specific directions. The number for the Planetarium is 9542016681. If that doesn't work then try the Observatory on 9542016315.
- Entrance for children and adults is free on public viewing nights. These nights take place on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8.00 to 10.00 p.m.
- Make sure you keep up to date with their website as the Planetarium and Observatory's events change every few months.
- Unfortunately it's not possible to buy tickets online ahead of time. You have to pay for your entrance when the box office opens 30 minutes before the show. Don't worry, its rare that shows for the Observatory or Planetarium sell out though do make sure you are on time, they make it very clear that there are absolutely no late entries!
