Activity Overview
Carolina Tiger Rescue is an animal sanctuary that provides shelter to the mistreated and abandoned big cats including Tigers, Lions, leopards, cougars, Servals, caracals and bobcats. It is a private, not-for-profit organization that was founded in 1981, and was known as Carnivore preservation trust. Carolina Tiger Rescue is a 55-acre sanctuary and home to the wildcats, the mission of the sanctuary is not only to rescue the wildcats that now have shrinking wild habitats, but to educate the masses about the importance of these animals in our ecosystem. Families can visit Carolina Tiger rescue on weekends, the guided tours are a great way to learn about and see the animals up close.
Things to Do
- Families can take the daytime public tours that are offered Friday-Sunday, the guided tour lasts for 1 to 2 hours. Hear the rescue stories of the most endangered species of our planet.
- Meet the animals of the wild, tigers, white Bengal tiger, lions and cougars, children will get to learn more about the endangered species. Tour tickets must be purchased in advance.
- Families can have a picnic lunch on the picnic tables.
- Visitors can take photographs.
- Savanna station gift shop sells apparel, books, toys and stationery.
- Big cat Safari Summer camps are a great way to introduce your kids to the world of the wildlife, especially big cats, children will spend time with a wildcat veterinarian and learn new skills.
