Activity Overview
When the weather is nice in Nashville, you should make sure you and your family head down to the beautiful Centennial Park two miles to the west of downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The site of the park was originally farmland before the Tennessee Centennial Exposition took place in 1897. Construction of the buildings for the exposition was started two years earlier and nearly 2 million people attended the event.
Following the Tennessee Centennial Exposition there were calls to preserve and retain the replica of the Parthenon that had been constructed for the event and the designation of the grounds as a public park in Nashville.
Various elements were added to the park at the beginning of the 20th century and art exhibits were held in the Parthenon.
