Activity Overview
Part of the Louisville Olmsted Parks Conservancy, Cherokee Park is a large green space in the middle of Louisville, complete with rolling hills, open meadows, woodlands, and Beargrass Creek running through it. One can bike, hike, or walk around the park's 2.4 mile loop to enjoy this bucolic locale.
The park has facilities for numerous sports and recreational activities, and nature lovers will appreciate the many varieties of plants and sightings of such animals as deer, fox, groundhogs, rabbits, turtles, hawks, beavers, crayfish and salamanders.
Things to Do
- If feeling sporty, take advantage of the archery range, frisbee field, basketball court, soccer field, bike trail, golf course, hiking trails, rugby field, horseback riding trails, and tennis courts.
- Relax with a picnic at the pavilion near Hogan's Fountain.
- Cool off at the pool and sprayground, also near Hogan's Fountain.
- Go for a scenic walk near Barringer Spring or Willow Pond.
- Little ones can have fun at any one of the park's playgrounds.
