Activity Overview
This 65-acre zoo is the second oldest zoo in the country. Cincinnati Zoo originally started with a few animals until the zoo has grown throughout the years. The zoo is also renowned for its captive breeding program supporting propagation of endangered species. Aside from observing the animals in their cages, the family can also catch movies at the 4D Theater.
Things to Do
- Visit the Welcome Center and get the schedule of feeding times, animal encounters, and shows. There are several animal stations showcasing different activities such as goat, manatee, sifaka, and polar bear encounter.
- Walk towards the animal exhibits. The Wildlife Canyon features hoofed mammals including camels, rhinos, and warty pigs. The Africa exhibit is where you will get a glimpse of an African wildlife with the lion, pelicans, and vulture. Other exhibits include the Reptile House, Rhino Reserve, and Monkey Island. Don't forget to visit the Elephant Reserve too!
- The zoo is also known for the plants and landscape surrounding it. Visit the Oriental Garden, the Tulip Display, and the Butterfly Garden among others.
- There are plenty of educational programs for families and groups that focuses on conservation and protection of the animals. Check their website to get to know about the programs and their schedules.
- You won't go hungry while inside the zoo. There are snack shops located in several areas with plenty of food and drinks options. There's also a Zoo Shop where you can purchase souvenirs of your trip.
