Activity Overview
Try a fun outdoor game of circle golf with friends or family. Whether you have a golf club at home or you can muster up a sturdy meter stick or other creative club idea, you can play this enjoyable and engaging game of golf in a contained circular area.
Players can mark off spots on a circle to represent that of a clock face and take turns putting a golf ball to the center point which can either be a small dug out hole or a cup. Players should take turns putting from each of the 12 spots on the clock. Players each keep track of their own score which helps practice math skills as well. If you would like, you can use a pencil and paper to keep track of the score, just like at the mini golf course.
Materials Needed
- A long piece of twine or yard marking spray
- A golf ball
- A golf club or sturdy yardstick
- A garden shovel
- Optional Cup if you don't want to dig a small hole in the lawn.
- Something to mark 12 spots ( cones, duck tape or other marker)
How to Play
- Create a circle with your twine that is 5 or 6 feet in diameter. You may also use marking spray to draw a large circle.
- Dig a small hole in the exact center of the circle. If digging a hole is not an option, then place a cup in the center on its side. If you use a cup, it will need to be rotated open side facing out for each round of play.
- Mark your circle or estimate 12 positions like that of a clock face.
- Players should take turns, putting at each station rotating clockwise around the circle and aiming for the hole or cup in the center.
- Players should keep track of how many golf strokes it takes for them to get the ball in the hole and add them at each position.
- The player who completes the 12 stations with the fewest number of puts wins the game.
