Activity Overview
Home to the largest collection of primates in the United States Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is a premier metropolitan zoo. There are all kinds of animals here from Ants to Zebras. It makes an excellent place to bring a child as they are sure to enjoy getting up close to some many creatures. The Zoo also runs plenty of events and programs for families and children in the hope of bother entertaining and educating all who come to visit.
Things to Do
- There are lots of programs and events designed for children and teens at the Zoo. Pre-school safaris give children between the ages of 3 and 5 the chance to explore a particular section of the park with a Safari Leader. Kids and teens age 12 and up can take part in the Keeper for a Day program where they will try their hand at all the typical jobs that zoo keepers have to do. Family Discoveries include hands on activities for the whole family along with a behind the scenes tour and an animal encounter.
- Spend an unforgettable night at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Sign up for one of their overnights where you can experience what it is like to work as a researcher first hand. This program allows you to become a scientist on your own team of scientists. You will be tasked with finding out about the natural history of the wolf and other North American species. To carry out your work you will be given compasses, maps, radio telemetry equipment and night vision binoculars. The rest of your overnight includes an evening snack and morning breakfast plus admission to the Zoo and the Rainforest when you wake up the next day.

- You can get a dollar off gate prices by purchasing your tickets at the Northeast Ohio Discount Drug Mart Store or by getting them through AAA. Children under two are granted free admission.
