Activity Overview

Since 1998, the College Park Aviation Museum has provided a great place to learn about aviation. The site of the museum is arguably the birthplace of aviation since Wilbur Wright started training the US Army at College Park in 1909 after creating, with the help of his brother, his flying machine.

The museum covers 27,000 square feet and is home to various aircraft as well as collections of aviation photography, memorabilia, and artefacts. The museum is recommended for families and children of all ages.

Things to Do

  • Take a guided tour of the museum. If you're in a group of 10 or more you can have a guided tour and discounted prices for the adults in your party. Child and other discounted prices remain the same. You will need to reserve this in advance.
  • Enjoy the museum's interactive exhibits including the "Imagination Plane".
  • Dress up like a pilot. If your little ones are always looking towards the sky, make sure they look the part in the museum's hands-on room where they'll learn all about aviation in an engaging environment.
  • Going with toddlers and younger children? The museum offers a pre-school learning club known as the "Peter Pan Club" where the littlest members of your family can learn and enjoy a story.
  • Take a picnic. While there isn't anywhere to eat inside the museum, there is outdoor area where you can eat your own food while watching planes taking off and landing. This is ideal during the warmer months of the year.
