Activity Overview

Denver was founded at Confluence Park as a gold mining camp in 1858. Today, the river park is the heart of Denver's 850-mile bike trail network, and is surrounded by attractions. Confluence Park is a nice central place on the edge of downtown where you can step out of the city for moment.

Things to Do

Ride the Platte River Trolley to the Downtown Aquarium to see stingrays and sharks and The Children's Museum of Denver, with dozens of interactive "playscapes" for younger kids; eat and drink in the nearby neighborhoods of Riverfront, LoHi and Highlands.

People watching is fantastic, there's usually a cart vendor out when the weather is nice.

Bike though the miles of trails that are a part of Denver's 850-mile bike trail network

Confluence Park Insider Tips

  • During the summer Confluence Park is a great "beach" spot to hang out with friends/family & keep cool in the water.
  • There are lots of different sections a part near REI & little shops, a hilly area, an area with picnic tables, grass, water, sculptures, pathways and more!
  • On hot days the park is packed with people swimming and wading in the waters (despite the signs warning against it). It's a great place to take the pooches for wading and splashing fun, too.
