Since the late 1940s (1948, to be exact), the Contemporary Art Museum (CAMH) has given Houstonians a fine place to view and appreciate some of the best contemporary art around. While contemporary art certainly isn't for everyone, it can often be more interesting and exciting than the fine arts, especially for young children.

The museum is always free, making it a great cultural destination for you and your family when you're keeping an eye on your budget.

• Enjoy the impressive collection of contemporary art available at the museum. The exhibitions are always changing so don't worry if you've been before since it's very likely that you'll have the chance to see something new.
• Pick up an educational and cultural gift, toy, or puzzle for your little ones at the museum's gift shop.
• Families with older children (particularly older teens) should consider going to one of the museum's many shows, talks, or events.
