Activity Overview

Cooperstown's role as the place where baseball originated has been disputed by historians but the village's love for baseball can never be doubted. Aside from being home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, the historic Doubleday Field is located here too. The field was used since 1920 when it was still a farm. Over the years, the surrounding land has been bought, bleachers built, and expansions commenced. Baseball fans will surely be nostalgic in seeing the quaint field which will remind you of the old times.

Things to Do

  • The field is open even on a non-game day. Admission is free. You and your kids can roam and run around the field. Bring your camera and take photos of the historic green field, bleachers, and bases.
  • The field can be rented for use so you may catch Youth Leagues or professional teams playing. Join in the fun and choose a team to cheer for. If you have a team and would like to play in the field, check out the application page for the schedule and reservations procedure.
  • Annual events such as the Hall of Fame Classic Weekend, Induction Weekend, Pumpkin Festival, and Winter Carnival are held here. Check out the schedule of events and drop by the field when you are in the area.
