Activity Overview

Crocodile Encounter has the largest group of crocodiles on display in the state of Texas. Enjoy one of Houston's largest wildlife shows and find out what it's really like to live and work with the nations largest group of Nile crocodiles. A visit to Houston's only reptile zoo enables each visitor to experience wildlife in a safe, exciting, and educational fashion.

Things to See & Do

Watch crocodiles and alligators swim, sun and feed. Lively guides will actually bring the animals directly to you for a feeding demo.

Enjoy a Public tour - Public tours generally run daily at 9:30am and 6:30pm. Check the schedule as sometimes these times change.

Book a Family Tour in advance - Family Tours are by appointment only. Tours last between 1:15-1:45 minutes depending on the animals behavior and schedule for that day. You must call, text, or email and set up your time to visit Crocodile Encounter. Plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your tours start time. Tours start promptly at the scheduled time. Gates open 30 minutes prior to tour start time. **You may bring romaine lettuce(#1 choice), or other green vegetables for your tortoise feeding experience.

See other animals - In addition to crocodiles, the facility features numerous species of snakes, lizards, and turtles as well as a number of small mammals.

Book a party - Visitors have the option of having small crocs at an event at your own location (like a party or a gathering) or you can come in to see the big crocs at Crocodile Encounter.

Crocodile Encounter Insider Tips

• Rest assured, Crocodile Encounter is a fully licensed and insured USDA zoological facility whose primary focus is science and wildlife education.
• Crocodile Encounter is currently open for tour groups only, so for now you must call to set up an appointment or join one of our scheduled tour times. (In other words - you can't just drive up and visit whenever you want).
• Crocodile Encounter currently houses 6 species of crocodilians but the primary species is the Nile crocodile from Africa. Other crocodilians are the American and Chinese alligators, Siamese crocodile, Morelets crocodiles and the world's smallest crocodilian species in the dwarf caiman.
• The largest crocodile on site is a male that is between 12-13 feet.
• Croctoberfest is an annual event worth attending - it's is the only time of year when Crocodile Encounter presents a full day open house for every visitor. It's a passport adventure that is a great day of family fun.
