The only Holocaust museum in North Central Texas, the Dallas Holocaust Museum is an educational center dedicated to the preservation of the memory of those who lost their lives during the Holocaust. The museum boasts numerous learning resources for children. Survivor Speakers are available for groups of more than 30 people. Their powerful and moving stories enhance the visit to the museum and can make the entire family understand the horrors of the Holocaust better. As some of the exhibits and stories are very graphic, taking very small children for a visit may not be a good idea.

The Dallas Holocaust Museum is located on 211 North Record Street in Dallas and is easily reachable by car or public transport. Parking is available for all visitors and is free for museum members.

Things to Do

• As the museum is rather small, start with a visit of the core exhibition. Organized around the events that happened on a single day, April 19, 1943, the exhibition takes visitors on a virtual tour of the deportations, wartime heroism, and diplomatic indifference.
• Visit the Garden of Remembrance, built by a high-school student, Brandon Ryan, who wanted to make a difference in the community.
• Get the personal handsets for the self-guided tour the entire family in order to listen to more information about the exhibits.
