Activity Overview
Never has the art of deception and sneakiness been so much fun. Doggy Doggy, Where's Your Bone is a game that I used to play my elementary school classroom when I was a child. It was one of my favorites, so I incorporated it into one of our family game nights and it was a huge hit!
In this game, one person acts as the doggy and when the doggy isn't looking, one of the others sneak up and steal away his or her bone. The object of the game is for the doggy to correctly guess who took the bone. Usually, all of the children will try to look as guilty as possible pretending that they have the item in their laps or hands as if they have the bone in effort to throw the doggy off course.
Materials Needed
- An eraser, a paperclip, a coin or other small item
- A chair
How to Play
One person is chosen to be it and plays the role of the dog.
The person who is it sits in a chair with their back to the others.
An eraser, a paperclip or a coin is placed under the chair. This is the considered the bone.
While the dog has his or her back turned with eyes closed, someone secretly sneaks up and steals the bone, returns to his or her seat hides it in their pocket or sits on it.
Then everyone chants Doggy, doggy, where's your bone? Somebody stole it from your home.
The dog then has three chances to guess who swiped it.
If the dog guesses correctly, then he gets to remain the dog play resumes again.
If he guesses wrong, then the person who had the bone gets a turn as the dog.
