Activity Overview
A toy and an art project all in one, these homemade Doodle Spinners are so fun and easy to assemble. Children of all ages will enjoy the fascination of creating a spinning top out of an an old CD that would normally just be tossed in the trash and rendered unusable. Repurposing old materials is fun in and of itself.
Once assembled, simply lay down some paper and spin the top. Not only will the spinning top be entertaining but it also will doodle lovely spirals around the paper creating a unique artistic masterpiece. Create one or several with different colored markers for a more colorful effect.
Materials Needed
- Old Cds
- Glue Gun
- Crayola Markers
- Paper
How to Make and Play
- Slide a magic marker through the center of an old cd
- Use your glue gun to glue the marker in place about 1/3 of the way from the tip of the marker.
- Take the cap off, hold the marker by the end and spin the marker like a top
