Activity Overview
Create colorful and unique drawings with Crayon Transfer Art. Just about every household has crayons and paper and a pencil which makes this art project a perfect go to for busting boredom. In this art project, the artwork preparations are just as much fun as the drawings that result. This activity is most appropriate for school aged children and older, but can certainly be prepped by older children for toddlers to also enjoy for the second phase.
We realized how important it is to actually press nice and hard when you color your paper with crayon, or else the transfer will be faint and not nearly as vibrant as it should be. There is always next time!
Materials Needed
- 2 sheets of white paper
- Crayons
- A pencil
How to Do It
Fill a piece of paper with a colorful crayon drawing. Use stripes, swirls or any design imaginable. Be sure to press hard to get a thick layer of waxy color down on the paper.
- Brush away any stray wax shavings.
- When your paper is covered in thick crayon, flip it over on top of another piece of white paper.
- Use a pencil to draw on the backside of the crayon coated paper.
- After you are finished drawing, lift the paper up to reveal a beautiful transfer drawing of colors.
