Visit the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland to learn about what really makes our planet turn, money. Here you can learn all about the American currency back to its foundation during the Revolutionary War right up to the present day. You can hear about how the United States became the world's economic power and understand the prosperity it has enjoyed since World War One. The building itself is listed as a National Historic Landmark.
Things to Do
- Docent led tours of the facility are available. You experienced guide will take you through over twenty five interactive exhibits that aim to teach you all about money and its various roles in society.
- A number of educational exhibits can be enjoyed at the Museum. Propaganda and Patriotism explores how the U.S has financed its wars over the centuries. Questionable Issue tells the fascinating and sad tale of how the Nazis made Jews in ghettos and concentration camps give away their money in exchange for worthless pieces of paper. Money of the World Today meanwhile takes a look at many different currencies from throughout the globe.
Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Insider Tips
- To help speed up the security checks as you enter the Federal Reserve be sure to have some form of photo ID on you, everyone over sixteen years of age must have a photo ID to enter. Try not to bring too many bags either as they all need to be x-ray scanned. Taking pictures is only allowed in the Learning Center and the Main Lobby you cannot use any video equipment inside the facility.
- Admission to the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is free. It is only available to visit on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 am until 2 pm.
