Activity Overview
Jump into Spring with both feet and make these terrific footprint bird paintings. Use your own footprints and different paint colors to create the perfect shaped body for a whole variety of birds and you will have a unique and personalized painting to savor.
Peruse some books or some webpages that feature birds and gather the appropriate color paints to correspond with the species of bird that you would like to make for your picture. For this example we made a robin redbreast and a cardinal. The varieties of birds that you can make are endless.
Materials Needed
How to Make It
- Use your paintbrush to thoroughly paint the bottom of a foot and step down onto a piece of paper so that the foot is on an angle with the toes facing toward the bottom corner.
- Use your paintbrush to paint a belly for your bird in the area of the indentation from the foot arch. The belly on some birds may be an entirely different color than the wings and body of the bird.
- The heel is your bird's head, so use paint and a paintbrush to add a beak and an eye. Also add some spindly feet to your bird.
- The toes will act as the bird's tail feathers.
- Add scenery or additional birds to your painting.
