- Families can do a variety of interactive and enriching activities at the museum, there are life-like museum figures, artifacts, interactive stations. One of the interesting life-like figures is of King Beaver, who was an 18th century Indian diplomat.
- Three historic rooms are recreated that show life inside the fort in the 1750's. The recreated rooms have many interesting artifacts to look for, including a British soldier's barrack.
- Children will enjoy the interactive object theater that shows life-like figures along with an introductory video.
- A recently restored and conserved 16-foot diorama shows Pittsburgh and Fort Pitt in 1765.
- The Fort Pit museum displays many interesting and historic 18th century artifacts.
- A current exhibition "History meets Hollywood at Fort Pitt", commemorates the 250th anniversary of Pontiac's Rebellion and the siege of Pittsburgh. The exhibit explores the Hollywood depiction of the events in a 1947 movie.
