Activity Overview
There are a number of Dr. Pepper Star Centers throughout the state of Texas which provide kids instruction and an ice rink to practice skating and ice hockey. As the name suggests they are in the business of wanting to create stars though the programs they run are just as much about spreading the love of sports played on the rink. They focus mainly on young children making it the perfect place to introduce your little ones to the joys of the ice. .
Things to Do
- Each Star Center runs a hockey academy whose programs are entitled the Dallas Stars Learn to Play Hockey Program. From Pre-Hockey to Hockey 3 participants work their way through a set structure of coaching to become proficient players. While the program is mainly aimed at kids it is available to older hockey players too.
- Designed by Mike Modano the Little Rookies Trial Camp is a free initiative aimed at children between the ages of 4 and 8. Any child can sign up for the camp and receive four training sessions absolutely free with all the necessary equipment and coaching provided. At the end of it all they will be awarded a Little Rookies hockey jersey to prove they successfully completed the training!
