French Market
Activity OverviewThe French Market is a popular market in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. In fact, it is the oldest public market in the United States, and has been located at the same site since 1791. Long before it was taken over by the French, the area was used by Native Americans as a trading post on the Mississippi River. Today visitors can enjoy the numerous attractions it provides year-round, including multiple weekly farmers markets, a flea market, shops, restaurants, cafes, music events, and festivals.
