Fruit & Spice Park

Activity Overview

Fruit & Spice Park is a 37-acre tropical botanical garden located in Homestead, Florida, just under an hour away from Miami by car. It is the only garden of its kind in the entire United States, and is run by the Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation Department.

There are over 500 varieties of fruits, spices, nuts, herbs, and vegetables that are grown in the park, including 70 different kinds of bamboo and 75 types of banana! Families are welcome to visit this beautiful natural park and sample the many delicious, healthy foods it produces.

Things to Do

• Take a guided tour - they're offered every day at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. and are a great way to learn more about the history and purpose of this unique botanical garden.
• Don't miss out on the chance to have a meal at the Mango Cafe! Offerings include the Fruit & Spice Park fruit sampler, wraps, salads, pizzas, sandwiches, and delicious homemade fruit smoothies.
• Try some of the park's fresh fruits, including some you've probably never heard of before, at the tasting counter in the Park Store. Visitors are also allowed to eat fruit that has fallen to the ground.

Fruit & Spice Park Insider Tips

• Take the tram around the grounds - it's a great way to see as many of the hundreds of fruit trees as possible, and kids love the experience!
• Check the park's events page before you visit - it often holds special events such as stargazing nights, culture festivals, orchid shows, fruit festivals, an annual blues and barbecue festival, and other family-friendly activities that can make your visit even more memorable.
• If you live in the area, you or your teenager can take advantage of the wonderfully rewarding experience of volunteering at the park. They often need help maintaining the herb garden and nursery, as well as extra hands to help out at special events. Visit their volunteer page for more information.
