Activity Overview
Get away from the city with a quiet retreat to the park. Genesee Valley Park is an 800-acre park with athletic fields, playground, an 18-hole golf course, picnic shelters, and hiking trails. The huge park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same landscape architect who designed Central Park in Manhattan. The park is an awesome family weekend destination providing a venue for kids and adults to run and bike along the canal and the Genesee River.
Things to Do
- Introduce the kids early to a healthy and fit lifestyle. Put on your running shoes or bring your bikes and take the trails along the Erie Canal and Genesee River. Rent a kayak and go kayaking on the canal or play a round of kickball at the athletic fields. Bring food and drinks for a picnic with the family after a morning of play and activities.
- An indoor skating rink is available during the winter. In the summer, take the family for laps in the outdoor swimming pool or play a game of ultimate frisbee.
