Georgia State Capitol
Activity OverviewThe Georgia State Capitol is one of the most significant examples of architecture and history in both the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia. As a result of this significance, the building is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and recognized as a U.S. National Historic Monument. The building was built on the site of the Atlanta City Hall in 1889. The building is in the same Classical style as the United States Capitol building in Washington, D.C. In addition to the obvious political functions of the Georgia State Capitol, there are also tours available for visitors and the Georgia Capitol Museum, which is a great place for you and your family to learn more about the history of the building and the state.
