Activity Overview
Ghirardelli Square gained fame for being the original home of the historic Ghirardelli chocolate factory. While the factory has long since been closed, it has been replaced by the wonderfully delicious Chocolate Manufactory and Soda Fountain, multiple shopping destinations, and wonderful dining experiences with stunning views.
Located just steps from the San Francisco Maritime Historical Park and surrounded by many other activities, the square is an open air destination which children and adults alike will enjoy.
Things to Do
Visit the Chocolate Manufactory and Soda Fountain. Create a giant sundae with chocolate and a cherry on top, or order a tasty hot chocolate on a cool day. High quality chocolates are also available for sale, and you may even get some free samples!
Enjoy the brilliant views, you may even catch a street performance or two.
Make a wish and visit the Mermaid statues at Andrea's Fountain. The fountain is located just outside the Chocolate Manufactory.

While many of the activities such as shopping and dining target more mature visitors, it is worth it to families to explore. Entrance is free to the public, and it is hard to resist the chocolate!
Visit early in the day, especially if planning to visit the Chocolate Manufactory and Soda Fountain. Large lines oftentimes accumulate by early afternoon depending on the season and day of the week.
