Activity Overview
A tour of the Gibson Guitar Factory allows visitors a 45 minute insight into how some of the most iconic guitars in the world are crafted. Gibsons have a long history having been produced since the early 1900's and will always have an important place in rock history thanks to their usage by such guitar gods as Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Keith Richards. The mastery of craft that goes into the production of each hand made guitar is truly impressive and will give each visitor a new found appreciation for the skill that goes into the making of rock music's most important instrument.
Things to Do
- As part of the tour you will get an in depth look into the various stages that go into making a Gibson. If you are lucky one of their master Luthiers will be present to illustrate how the guitars binded, neck-fitted, painted and buffed to create a spectacular piece of work that anyone can appreciate, guitar nut or not!
- When you are finished with the tour make sure you spend some time in The Factory Store. There are all kinds of souvenirs and guitar accessories here for you to buy.
- Best of all there are many of the famous guitars on display in the shop. You are welcome to sit down and give them a shot, who knows you mind find your very own Lucille!
