Golden Flake Snack Foods was established in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1923s as Magic City Foods by Mose Lischkoff and Frank Mosher. Initially the company was headquartered in the basement of a grocery store in the city before changing owners several times and finally changing its name to Golden Flake, Inc. after a couple of decades. The production facility in Birmingham provides free tours for those who are interested in learning more about how their products are made. Getting to the factory should only take around 10 minutes from downtown Birmingham if you're driving. If you're heading from out of town, it's not far off the I-65.

- As the tours are dependent on production schedules, make sure you call ahead before going to check the times. Generally the tours operate Monday through Thursday at 9:30, 11:00, and 12:30.
