Activity Overview
The Great Clips IMAX Theatre is located at Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley. As it is the zoo's movie theatre it shows a program of nature related and educational movies that allow viewers to discover the nature of far-flung parts of the world. It also shows regular releases that are out in other movie theatres, just on a far bigger screen of course.
Things to Do
- Groups and field trips are all welcome to come along to the IMAX. In fact IMAX offers a discounted rate for school groups. They also offer teacher materials so that teachers can easily connect what they have seen during their trip to the IMAX with classroom activities to make sure the children get the most out of the experience
- The IMAX intermittently holds Family Nights where families are invited to watch a film that is age appropriate for even the youngest viewers. Complimentary snacks are served and you can enter to win prizes. Take a look at their website to see when the next one is planned.
- If you are visiting the Zoo consider booking an IMAX showing ahead of time. A movie can act as a nice break from walking around the animal exhibits, especially on a hot summer's day.
Great Clips IMAX Theatre Insider Tips
- Parking at the IMAX Theatre is free. Also it is not necessary to pay admission to the zoo itself in order to see a film, if you're not interested in the animals you can just come for the movie!
- For the best possible viewing experience try to book a seat in the center of the theatre ahead of time.
- If you have a young (or old) relative who is a big fan of the IMAX you can get them a gift card to see whatever film they want.
- The seats in this theatre are a little old though hopefully the movie will be good enough for you to be able to ignore any discomfort!
