Activity Overview
A trip to the Great Wolf Lodge is sure to make your family howl with delight anytime of the year. Unlike some other Great Wolf Lodge destinations, this facility was built from the ground up as a lodge. The enormous log cabin structure and layout adds tremendous appeal to the adventure that awaits you.
The Great Wolf Lodge is an enormous indoor and outdoor waterpark and hotel which offers a massive arcade, spa, restaurants, ice cream shops, gift shop, mini golf, and adventure ropes course and climbing wall. There are also many activities to partake in throughout the hotel. There is no need to ever leave the lodge during your stay, as it has everything you could ever need right at your fingertips.
The Great Wolf Lodge is located in historic Williamsburg, VA. While the Great Wolf Lodge is a destination in and of itself, if you choose to leave the waterpark to explore, you will find numerous Civil War Battlefields and Living Museums to explore that the entire family will enjoy.
Things to Do
- Enormous Indoor Water park which features a kiddie area, indoor basketball, lilypad obstacle course, waterslides from beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, a huge activity water structure, the howling tornado waterslide, two hot tubs, a lazy river, a boogie board surfing station, snack shack, and giant wave pool.
- NEW Outdoor Pool offers a true resort-like setting and is perfect for the whole family to relax and enjoy. The pool ranges from 1 foot deep to 4 feet deep and has a kiddie play area, numerous balls to play with, water basketball and a fabulous patio fill of massive umbrellas and lounge chairs.
- Rock Climbing Wall and Outdoor Ropes Course is available outside by the pool area for adventure enthusiasts.
- Howling One Mini Golf can also be found outside for some dry fun.
- MagicQuest and AdventureQuest are fun and interactive games that can be played throughout your stay. Guests receive a wand with game activation and receive clues and puzzles to solve throughout the magical kiosks throughout the lodge.
- Storytimes, Dance parties, and table crafts are offered in the lobby, so be sure to check the schedule at the front desk. Sometimes the times are posted on the chalk board in the lobby. There are also times for pictures with the Great Wold Lodge host characters.
Insider Tips
- Check for groupon offers. They have really great offers year long. Some include a 50 dollar dining credit to be used during your stay. Make sure you use it if you get one though because it is nontransferable.
- It is almost a standard to be offered an additional night at a fraction of the cost at this location. Ask about it and plan for a little bit of leeway in your travel plans in case this opportunity comes your way.
- For $20 per person you can experience an hour either before the park opens or after it closes at the very popular body surfing station. With no lines and no waiting, guests get individual instruction and can ride the waves. We were so glad that we did this one!
- The hotel offers a neat Adventurequest and Magicquest interactive game throughout the hotel. This takes a long time to complete but the kids love it. I'd recommend only adding this to your stay if you plan on being at this destination for more than one night.
- Save your refillable drink containers for future trips. For one price, you can refill with Icees, soda and Powerade in all flavors.
- If you think your family will want to participate in lots of the activities offered, you may consider adding a Wolf Pass or two to your trip. A wolf pass is a one time fee and has a check off list o the back where you can have access to everything from getting an ice cream at the one cream shop, to mini golf, candy at the gift shop, a build a stuffed animal activity which has an interactive theme and more.
- Your wristband will be your access to your room and you can give access to certain members of your party to be able to charge food and drinks and anything at the lodge on the band.
- This is a huge responsibility as well a convenience, so make sure that your older children or guests know the rules that you want them to abide by with making charges to the room. All activities, food and the gift shop can be charged on this band if the access is given at the time of check in. You won't have to worry about carrying your wallet around with you.
