Activity Overview
The Green Lake Park is one of your best bets in Seattle if you're looking for a good place to take the family for a swim in the summer or if you just want to take a breath of fresh air any time of the year. The park is located 5 miles away from downtown Seattle.
You will find two beaches on the west and east sides of the lake; both well-equipped with facilities such as kayak and paddle board rentals as well as low and high dive boards for family members who like to dive.
Things to Do
Swim, rent a stand up paddle board, or a kayak. For kids, there's a designated swimming area with friendly lifeguards on duty during the summer.
Green Lake Park also has a tennis court, soccer field, and a basketball court.
Take the family for a picnic in the park and play ball games under the shade of the trees.
Bike, roller blade, walk, or jog on the paved path surrounding the lake. The path has 2 lanes - one for people on wheels and another one for those on their feet.
Take a break by grabbing a bite or a cup of coffee from the restaurants and coffee shops surrounding the park, sit on one of the benches, and admire the lake on a good, sunny day.
Green Lake Park Beach Insider Tips
- Come at an earlier time to get a good parking spot. Finding a spot can be hard during peak hours.
- Take the outer, non-paved path if you want to do some serious running. You'll get to avoid bumping into other joggers as well.
- The park is also a good place to bring your pets. There's an off-leash area near the parking lot where you can let your furry friend run and let loose.
- It can get crowded on a warm, summer day so if you are looking for some quiet time, go early in the morning.
